KOLON SPORT 'SOX S 5'
Concept : SOX Technologies of Boa and Sole, SOX 솔과 보아의 기술
Heath Kim created 3D-motion graphics for ‘SOX S5’, a flagship trekking shoe line by Kolon sport. One of the goals of this project was to bring a ‘Reverse Engineering System’ that utilizes 3D scan and Zbrush. Because the shape and details of the shoes were complex, only the basic shape and details could be derived from a 3D scan before additional modeling work. The structure and proportions, which are essential elements of a shoe’s structure and appeal, having already been set, saves a lot of time/improves workflow, and contributes to overall quality of the completed product. The design concept of this particular sample of work is “Technologies of Boa and Sole”. The client wanted to highlight the technologies core to its product: the unique sole and what it calls its “boa” lace-up mechanism that is popular on the other flagship models of their, SOX line, to consumers. To emphasize these parts, we created a 3D exploded animation that shows the layered construction of the footwear, and a laser line passing over it to emphasize its curvatures. Also, overall, I tried to simultaneously bring a calm, emotive, and futuristic atmosphere by utilizing a monochromatic background, soft blurs, and static motions.
코오롱 스포츠 아웃도어 워킹화 'SOX S 5'의 모션그래픽을 제작했습니다. 이 프로젝트의 핵심 내용 중 하나는 3D스캔 데이터와 지브러시를 활용한 역설계 모델링 과정입니다. 신발의 형태와 디테일이 복잡한 편이었기 때문에, 3D스캔으로 기본 골격과 디테일의 방향을 잡은 뒤 모델링을 진행했습니다. 신발 모델링의 핵심인 형태와 비율이 이미 잡혀 있어 많은 시간을 아낄 수 있었고, 이런 부분들이 완성도에 긍정적인 영향을 미쳤습니다. 영상의 디자인 컨셉은 ‘Technologies of Boa and Sole’ 입니다. 고객사는 자사의 대표모델 중 하나인 ‘SOX S’의 솔과 보아의 기술력을 소비자에게 전달하고 싶었습니다. 이 부분들을 강조하기 위해 제품 부품이 분리되는 장면, 그것을 훑고 가는 레이저의 모습을 연출했습니다. 또한, 전반적으로 모노톤의 배경, 부드러운 블러, 정적인 모션을 적극 활용해 잔잔하면서도 감성적인 분위기를 가져가고자 했습니다.
